Product Idea: Whiteboard Wiki

Since I have new product ideas almost daily and absolutely zero time to act on them, I’ll just start dumping them here in hopes somebody will take them and run.

This one’s simple:  a whiteboard that can be integrated into a wiki.  I love whiteboards, everyone I know (well, everyone I like working with, anyway) loves whiteboards.  No wikis have whiteboards (that I know of).  Wikis are for outlining ideas and collaboration, so are white boards.

So, the idea is this: build an applet (either Flash or AJAX) that can be embedded into a wiki.  Should be pretty simple to just embed it in an iframe and pull up the whiteboard based on the referring URL (which is different for each page in the wiki).  It can even run AdSense ads along one side to generate revenue.  When people use the wiki, the whiteboards makes money.  Piece o’ cake ;)

  • hello, yeah!

Ummm, yeah. It's 2007 and there is still no whiteboard wiki. What's the deal? Visio has been around for a decade, but it is complicated and uber expensive.

Why can't anyone make a collaborative whiteboard with wiki archival/edititing/version tracking capabilities? Should include vecotr graphics, as well as fonts and mouse/touchscreen/gestures/etc.
