The Power of Syndicated Data - Control Your Computer with Google Calendar
I just ran across a client utility which uses Google Calendar data to shutdown, standby, log off, hibernate, or lock your computer using scheduled events in Google Calendar.
Now, I probably won't use this, but it's the first example of the real power of syndication that I've seen. It uses syndication to consume the data you input into Google Calendar and do something useful with it outside of telling you what you're supposed to be doing. It actually does something with it, itself! In fact if turning on and off your PC is important to you, this is probably a killer app that will get you to use Google Calendar, if you already don't.
Next stop: tell your calendaring app when your kids are allowed to watch TV.
