I have an extremely limited amount of time each day to read blogs. I’m probably a little more insulated in that respect than most, I rarely visit Tech.Meme or any of the other "blogging" sites out there, I tend to use my blog as more of a sounding board for ideas I have rather than as a way to respond to others. However, there are about 40 feeds I keep an eye on, mostly people I know or have interacted with in some way.
What will prompt me to subscribe to a new feed though, is when I find a blog with a lot of original, fresh ideas. I don’t find them very often though, most of the blogs I find primarily respond to ideas others post, or news. I recently found one that I like a lot via my referral logs, matchmine blog. Especially since it’s a new blog, I wanted to point it out and say that in my opinion they deserve consideration for adding to your feed reader. Good content deserves props, the stuff these guys have posted so far is very interesting and original. Good job, fellas.
On a related note, thinking about the blogs I do subscribe to and find interesting, I think it’s more about finding people whose personality interests me and whose brain seems to work similarly to mine (scary thought). Typically when I do find these blogs they’re not very um, how should I put this, super laser-focused on one area, which tends to run contrary to all the advice you see about blogging. In fact that’s probably what interests me the most, when people are posting what THEY find interesting as opposed to what OTHER people find interesting. I think my blog suffers from this somewhat as well–I tend to post things that interest me even if they’re not directly related to technology. Hey, it’s my blog, I can do what I want with it
